Bonjour Sonoma.

Sonoma-Cutrer’s wine is a rare blend of French winemaking tradition and California style but their brand presence didn’t fully capture that art-meets-terroir story. They needed a campaign that felt as refined as their wine and as inviting as their vineyards. Something that could elevate the brand beyond tasting notes and bottle shots.

The Art of Sonoma

For Sonoma-Cutrer, winemaking isn’t just a process — it’s an art form shaped by the outdoors. That led us to the French tradition of plein air (“open air”) painting, where artists take their easels into the landscape to capture light, texture, and mood. It was the perfect metaphor for their craft.

The Idea

Bonjour Sonoma became both a greeting and an invitation:
Step into the vineyard. Breathe the California air. Experience a wine made with artistry under the sun.

We positioned Sonoma-Cutrer not just as a wine brand, but as a living canvas — where every vintage is a work of art and every sip is part of the scene.

Execution

As Creative Director, I led the campaign concept from insight to execution; defining the visual and tonal direction, guiding creatives, photographers and designers and ensuring the brand’s French-Californian duality was felt in every touchpoint.

  • Photography — Art-directed vineyard portraits with painterly light, framing each bottle as part of its natural surroundings.

  • Design System — Elegant typography and logo treatments that balanced old-world refinement with California ease.

  • Cross-Channel Use — Assets rolled out across print, digital, retail displays and social.

Industry reaction was strong: Little Black Book described the execution as “elegant… elevating the brand in a crowded category.”
